Robert L. “Bob” Fisher Sr.

August 31, 1939 — December 12, 2018

Robert L. “Bob” Fisher Sr. age 79, was born August 31, 1939 and was reunited with his parents and many of his siblings on December 12, 2018 following a lengthy illness. Born in Daily West Virginia, he left the family farm to embark on a nine-year enlistment in the United States Army, serving in the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Armored Division, and the 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment. After leaving the Army he settled in Canton, Ohio, finding employment with the City of Canton Building Maintenance Department for 31 years. Bob considered himself a “strong and proud union man,” and was a member of AFSCME Local #2937. He was an avid Ohio sports fan, with a particular fondness for the Cleveland teams, especially his beloved Cleveland Indians.

Bob is survived by his wife and best friend of over 53 years, Jean Fisher; two sons, Donald Fisher and Robert L Fisher Jr, and three daughters, Mary McIntyre, Barbara Fisher, and Brittany Fisher, as well as his grandson Jeffrey McIntyre, who helped to take care of him in assisted living. Also surviving is his brother Harold and his sisters Edna and Ileta as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Bob is preceded in death by his mother and father, Sadie Irene Fisher and Oscar Mark Fisher as well as his brothers Howard, Billy Joe, Daniel, Arnett, and his sisters Jan, Judy, Grace, Martha, and Francis.

Bob’s family will receive friends Monday from 5-7 pm and Tuesday from 11:00-12:00 pm at the Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville. Services will be held Tuesday at 12:30 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens on Broadway Street in Louisville. A celebration of his life will be held at VFW Post #7490 on Columbus Road in Louisville immediately following the cemetery services.
