Mary Catherine “Mickey” (Gill) Michel age 90, went home to the Lord on August 16, 2021. Born December 3, 1930, in Canton, to the late Earl J. and Mary “Minnie” (Henry) Gill. Mickey lived her adult life in Louisville, Ohio.  She graduated in 1948 from Mount Marie High School in Canton, and then was employed as a draftswoman at the Hoover Company. She served as the office manager for the V.L. Michel and Sons Construction Company and as an auction clerk for the Russ Kiko Agency.

Mickey was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Church in Harrisburg, Ohio, where she married Virgil L. “Butch” Michel on February 2, 1958. She was a bingo lunch committee volunteer and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.

Spending time with her family, including attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, brought her great joy. She was intensely loyal to her family and her faith. She also loved the theatre, the visual arts, and music, especially Tony Bennett and Nat King Cole. She enjoyed playing Solitaire and reading, as well as applying her artistic talents to projects. Virgil and Mickey enjoyed traveling, and attended many reunions for the destroyer, USS Isherwood DD 520, at various sites across the U.S.

In addition to her parents, Mickey was preceded in death by her husband Butch, her; her brothers, Ralph (Mary), Joseph, Carl (Midge), Raymond (Millie), Walter (Mary Margaret), and William (Luella) Gill; her sisters, Colletta (Russ) Kiko, Gertrude (Lawrence) Thouvenin, and Anna Mae (Harry) Eckroate.

She is survived by her children, Mary (David) Moore, Melinda, Michael, and Kevin (Kristy) Michel; her grandchildren, Kayla and Ashley Moore, Catherine, Jillian, and Matthew Michel; as well as many nieces and nephews all of whom she cherished.

The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice, especially Melissa, Karen, and Joanne, and the entire staff of St. Joseph’s Care Center for their support of Mom. Special thanks to Linda and Deanna for their years of care and service.
