Kelley Powell, 60, passed away Thursday May 19, 2022.
Her determination in everything she did was unbreakable. From working 3 jobs to provide for me, to being told she would never walk again a year ago and proving the Dr.s wrong. She never let anyone or anything stand in the way of her mindset.
She was a Mother, Daughter, Sister and a true friend to the people she cared about.
She was an artist. From sketching beautiful drawings in high school to creating some of the most beautiful Native American gourds you’ve ever seen.
She loved horses. My childhood was spent on a farm and her teaching me how to ride and take of a horse. She loved getting me into shows and competitions.
She was 25+ years sober. Even when it was bad news after bad news medically or dealing with me as a child she maintained her sobriety and was active in the AA groups.
She was the toughest human being I’ve ever met and ever will. She taught me so much over the years and encouraged me to pursue my dreams always.
Treat every conversation you have with someone you love like it might be the last.
Make time for the people who shape you in our life. We get so wrapped up in our work lives and our hobbies that we tend to forget what have in front of us.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, 5-6pm at Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home, 303 S. Chapel St., Louisville, where a memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm.
