Joseph Alan Klemens, 71, of Louisville, Ohio passed away peacefully on December 9th, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born in July 1952 to Helen (Weisend) and William Klemens in Louisville, where he would live most of his life and raise his family. Joe was a proud St. Thomas Aquinas class of 1970 graduate, spent several years as a brick mason, then attended Kent State University, graduating in 1978 with his B.S. in Accounting. He was employed at D.A. Bagnola & Co. as a CPA with his friend Dean until his retirement. He was a member of St. Louis Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles (Louisville #2374). Joe loved to hike the metroparks, was an avid gardener, a loyal employee and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was handy and a borderline hoarder of wood pieces, bits of string, and random screws and nails for future repair jobs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, JoAnne (Kirkham); daughter; Julie (Tom) Setser; son, William (Lauren); three grandchildren, Thomas Joseph, Grayson, and Elenore Setser; and fur-grandbabies, Zoey and Barry. Joe is also survived by siblings, Eva of Canton, Carol of Canton, Thomas of Alliance, Jane of Canton, Rita (Fred) Enderle of Piqua, Kay of Gurnee, IL, Patricia Harty of Canton, Mary of Zanesville, and John (Hung Cha) of Sterling, VA; as well as several nieces and nephews, dear friends, classmates, and colleagues.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, James, two infant brothers Michael and Anthony, and infant daughter, Jill Elaine.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105) or your local park system.
