Eleanor Henritta Savarin

Eleanor Henritta Savarin, age 95, of Canton, Ohio (formerly of Euclid, Ohio) passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022. She was born to the late John and Philomena Praskac in Landsford Pennsylvania on December 30, 1932.  Upon graduation from Landsford High School Eleanor left Pennsylvania for New York City where she worked as a telephone operator.   She met her husband, Michael, a Navy man, while attending a Broadway show during Navy week.  They were married in 1947 and eventually moved to Euclid, Ohio where they raised their three children.  Over the years, Eleanor worked at Hough Bakeries and Helen Hutchley’s Ice Cream and Candy store.  Eleanor volunteered at Euclid General Hospital, The Cleveland Playhouse Square, and delivered Meals on Wheels.  She was an active member of St Williams Catholic Church in Euclid for over 50 years.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Savarin, son, Michael Savarin, Jr. and brother, John Praskac.

She is survived by two children, Jamie (Barbara), of Louisville, Ohio, daughter, Frances Savarin of Pittsboro, North Carolina; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Savarin of Pepper pike, Ohio; niece, Sister Mary Praskac; nephew, John Praskac Jr.; grandchildren, Patrick Savarin and Ryan Savarin of Las Vegas, Nevada, Andrew (Justine) Savarin of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Laura (Preston) Black of Dublin, Ohio; and two great grandchildren, Finn Savarin and Madilyn Black.

Special thanks to the staff at the Canton Regency in Canton Ohio for their passionate care for Eleanor during her stay.  A private family burial will take place at All Souls Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio. Paquelet-Falk Funeral Home in Louisville, Ohio is entrusted with the arrangements.    Family requests memorial donations be made to
