Dan “Danny” Upperman

May 16, 1961 — February 6, 2020

Dan “Danny” Upperman age 58 of Louisville passed away February 6, 2020 following a recent illness. He graduated from Louisville High School Class of 1979, and recently enjoyed attending his 40th class reunion. He later graduated from McKim Technical Institute, HVAC.

Dan was a hard worker and could accomplish anything he put his mind to, no matter what the task. He started at the young age of 13, working in the produce fields at Hartville Swamps. Many of our old neighbors may recall him delivering their newspaper and working for Ridgway Asphalt. He explored various other jobs but returned to work for his mentor. He was employed at Oster Sand & Gravel for over 35 years. He tinkered with machines from a young age, with his train, racecar set, minibike, go cart and moped and slot machine. As he got older, he mastered his skills with his snowmobiles and cars. There wasn’t a thing he couldn’t fix. Dan also enjoyed playing pool darts and golf.

He was a member of the VFW Post 7490 and the American Legion Post #548. Dan was always lending a helping hand to his friends and family. He proudly volunteered beside his friends to help the community. Dan had a huge heart of gold and will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

You could often find Dan sitting on his porch, with a cold Busch Lite overlooking a beautiful memorial he made in honor of his late father and brother. He loved his beautiful country setting, gardening and sharing his bounty with his friends and family. One Christmas, he made picture frames for his family from the tree that his older brother Doug planted as a young boy. Another Christmas, he made a wooden horse racing game for each of his siblings and parents. He loved Christmas just like our dad. It was his favorite time of year; gathering on New Year’s Day to feast on dad’s roaster full of pork and sauerkraut. He deeply missed our dad and brother Doug, who also passed away too young. He is now reunited with loved ones.

Rest in Peace Dan, Danny,
Banny, Uppie and Buff.

Danny leaves behind his mother, Donna M. Upperman; sisters, Sandra (Curtis) Bilcze of Bluffton, South Carolina, Sally Upperman of North Canton, Ohio; brother, David (Dawn) Upperman of Durham, North Carolina; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul B. Upperman; brother, Douglas P. Upperman and nephew Tyler D. Upperman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dan’s memory to the American Legion Post #548 and VFW Post #3747.
